Nicole had another doctors appointment today. Since it was going to be a multi-hour ordeal and I was working, I didn’t go with her. I thought my wife Nicole was dead. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. It was late on a Saturday night and she was taking a bath before going to bed. I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last post. Where did the time go? I think I know where it went, and school and work account for most of it. What is going on with me? I never thought turning 30 would have such an adverse effect on my philology. I rarely have any medical problems and I haven’t been to the doctor in the past 4 years. So it’s been a long, long time since I’ve posted. So what? I’ve had a decent amount to drink earlier tonight and I’m still feeling the after effects. Let’s write. I’m going to see a Dave Matthews Band concert tonight. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve seen them live, so I’m looking forward to it. They have been a favorite group since I was a junior in college. Am I struggling to holding on to my youth? Yes, but not because I like this group. Why do people “go back to school”? I’m pondering this because of my own situation and because of the choices made by some co-workers. I’m trying to think beyond the typical answers such as “to get a better job” or “to make more money”. I believe I have discovered a new equation that explains the relationship between caffeine, free time, and the lack of sleep: daily performance = hours awake * amount of caffeine consumed / hours alseep I’ve never been a proponent of coffee or any stimulant for that matter.
