I’ve created my blog page, a sort of public online diary. I’ve just started back to school. I’m doing pre-reqs for my MBA program that starts in the fall at the Kelley School of Business at IU/PUI in Indianapolis. So far, I hate giving up 2 nights per week for class plus lots of study time, and this class is in Columbus, I can’t imagine the drive to Indy will make things better. But, if I don’t do it now, I never will. I should be workig on homework now but I’m not. I’ve created a new website, Tivohelp.com, to help others upgrade their tivos.Read More →

Farm Aid – Verizon Wireless Music Center – Noblesville – Indianapolis (2001-09-29)

For some reason, Dave Matthews Band never scheduled a show in Indiana this summer, so I got my fix at Farm Aid with a solo performance by Dave Matthews. This concert was just a couple of weeks after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and this was a strong theme of the concert. Everyone was feeling it. Everyone was thinking about it. Everyone felt a solemn, remorseful, emptiness because of it. The concert gave tribute and also made us feel just a little better by spreading some joy. The Song that Jane Likes was my favorite song of the show. Some great harmonica backup. ThisRead More →

This was my second DMB show in as many nights. Nicole, Chris Harlow, and I attended a pre-show party at the house of one of Nicoles co-workers. Concert time approached, so Chris and I left the party, got cash, and walked through the gates just as DMB start to play. Nicole rode over with her co-workers in a hearse with a giant plastic chicken strapped to the top. Chris Harlow and I sat right in the center about 20 rows back; everyone else was in the lawn. There was a taper beside me but I don’t know what he was; I should have asked toRead More →

This is the best Dave Matthews Band concert I’ve ever attended. Tremendous energy and great performances of every song. My wife and I had pretty good seats on the left side of the stage about 10 rows back. The song I still remember above all others is Recently. I was hoping it wasn’t a 3-minute version as I had heard in the past several times. This time, it kept going and going — I believe this was a ‘Pretty Girl ending’ version. The crowd (including me) was in frenzy when this song ended. This show turned out to be rare performance of Sweet Up andRead More →

I attended this show with by friend Chris Harlow. I got some pretty descent seats in the lower pavilion through the Warehouse. This is the summer of Dave Matthews Band. The first two shows sold out on the first day of ticket sales. Because of this, a third show added to the beginning of their previous 2-night stint. But I didn’t make it to that one because I figured 2 was enough. A Thursday night show and I couldn’t find anyone to use my second ticket. At the last minute, a friend from work (Nancy Enzinger) decided she was up for it. We arrived just a little before the show started but still didn’t get great near-the-exit parking. This setlist is what every current Dave Matthews Band fan wants to hear, with the exception of an encore of Long Black Veil. I know it’s a Johnny Cash tribute, but it doesn’t really fit with everything else. But the rest of the setlist is so strong, it doesn’t matter. Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds – Palace Theatre – Louisville KY (1999-02-19)

Surreal. To date, this is the best concert I have attended. The intimate location and the music were a perfect combination. My good friend Chris Harlow didn’t make it to buy tickets until late in the day, so our seats were toward the back. It didn’t matter because the seats were still great; there’s not a bad seat in the house. Hearing familiar songs in a different format is almost always enjoyable for me. Hearing Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds perform these songs is the best example of how great it can be. But it was the new song that really caught my attention —Read More →

I sat/stood in the lawn area with my friend Chris Harlow, who received the tickets for free from a friend who couldn’t attend. This was a much better show than the night before. The setlist was more to my liking and I enjoyed the individual song performances more in general. It’s amazing the difference between nights. I sat/stood in the the lawn area with my brother Brandon. I wish I could remember more details but I wasn’t overly excited by the show or the songs played. Either there was not too much crowd energy, or the songs were uninspired, or both. But if I were to listen to the concert again, it would probably be better than I remember it. I had two tickets to go see Dave Matthews Band at Deer Creek in Noblesville, IN. Unfortunately, I didn’t have anyone to go with and I wasn’t too excited about driving from Louisville to the far north side of Indianapolis. In addition, I received a call from my friend Troy Allen asking if I wanted to come over for a visit that weekend. So I did that instead of going to the concert. A weekend with friends is never a weekend wasted. Songs I would have heard had I attended the concert: Dave Matthews Band June 28, 1997 Deer Creek Music Center, Noblesville, IN TwoRead More →
