For some reason, Dave Matthews Band never scheduled a show in Indiana this summer, so I got my fix at Farm Aid with a solo performance by Dave Matthews.
This concert was just a couple of weeks after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and this was a strong theme of the concert. Everyone was feeling it. Everyone was thinking about it. Everyone felt a solemn, remorseful, emptiness because of it. The concert gave tribute and also made us feel just a little better by spreading some joy.
The Song that Jane Likes was my favorite song of the show. Some great harmonica backup.
This was a very fun and enjoyable concert in general. Lots of energy from John Mellancamp and crew; Nicole and I saw them again the next day at the F1 race in Indy. Willie Nelson was a blast to watch and it was so easy to listen to him and his band perform.
This was my wifes birthday and she agreed to attend this concert with me any way. What a great gal!
