2024 Highlights:
- Experienced U2 at Las Vegas Sphere – what an incredible visual experience – and the music was pretty good too. Spending a few days with a great group of friends was even better.
- Experienced the 08-April-2024 Total Solar Eclipse – at home in Indiana – The moment the moon goes from 99% coverage of the sun to 100% is mind-blowing and surreal. I’d been looking forward to this moment since view my first total solar eclipse on 21-August-2017 in Kentucky.
- Experienced the Northern Lights – at Home in Indiana – this is something I’d always wanted to see, although it’s definitely more impressive in photos than it is with the naked eye.
- TAARA ADV Motorcycle Riding training class – It’s always good to hone your skills, and got to spend 2 days in rural Indiana farmland and woodland learning to better ride my motorcycle off-road.
- Yachting Along the Coast of British Columbia, Canada – some of life’s most enjoyable moments come from unexpected opportunities and I’m so grateful I was able to experience this.
- Served as a panelist at the PRISMS semi-annual conference – our entire family had a magical few days connecting with other families and researches involved with and impacted by Smith-Magenis Syndrome.
- Experienced the Indy 500 (again) – We waited out numerous hours of rain delay but the excitement started with a Thunderbirds F16 flyover directly overhead, followed by a competitive race that ended in an outside pass on turn 3 for the win.
Regrets for 2024:
- Numerous long-term friends and co-workers had their jobs eliminated at my employer and I still feel their absence there.
- One of my best friends passed away somewhat unexpectedly this November. He didn’t want to burden others with his health issues and always wanted to give more than he received. I deeply respect and admire him for that. He took up piano playing in his 40s and sent me this original composition he called “Clouds”. His favorite jazz pianist was Earl Hines and I think there are some of his influences here.
- “I was looking out the window on a gloomy day. I tried to put what I was seeing into music. The piano has turned out to be a therapy tool for me at times over the last 4 years. I wish I had started playing while I was in high school……”
Hopes for 2025:
- To have a great trip with my daughter before she goes off to college and to spend as much time with her as possible
- To finish a major car and home theater project
- To find some new investment opportunities
