The television show Heroes is every geeks favorite new show. Yet everyone I know seems to be afraid that, because they like it so much, it almost certainly be canceled in a Firefly-like fashion. Not so. Heroes has already been picked-up for a full season by NBC. Because this happened so early, this pretty much guarantees a second season in my opinion. Also, it’s the highest-rated new drama in the key 18-49 demo. So stop worrying. Veronica Mars, on the other hand, is still in limbo. I saw the third X-man movie this weekend and was very impressed. This trilogy provided the most satisfying story arc of any set of science fiction movies since the original Star Wars (Matrix 3 was kinda of a let down.) Of course, having decades of comic books from which to borrow story lines helps the writing / planning of short- and long-term stories. I would have definitely waited for this movie to come to DVD before viewing except for the fact that it is directed by J.J. Abrams (of Alias, Lost, and Felicity fame). In general, I’m partial movies directed by those with a background in TV (Joss Whedon for one) because they tend to slip in a bit more character development and are more mindful of plot holes. Netflix Class-Action Lawsuit Settlement Sucks

I’ve been a Netflix subscriber since 2001 and rented from them starting in 1999. When I received an e-mail about a Netflix class action lawsuit, I knew immediately what prompted it. They promised unlimited rentals but they wouldn’t ship out new DVDs until several days after the movie was returned to them, thus artificially limiting the number of movies you could rent in a month. They would claim issues with the US Postal Service, but I found it strange that the USPS would hold on to every Netflix movie sent to them for several days before delivering it. Of course, this was not the caseRead More →
