Overview
File Transfer Protocol (FTP - wikipedia entry) is a standard that allows for moving files from one networked device to another. It is compatible with all operating systems. One device must be running a FTP server and the other device will run a FTP client.
Windows Clients
Filezilla http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ is a free, open source FTP program for Windows and Linux that works well with TiVo.
SmartFTP is a free (closed source) alternative http://www.smartftp.com/
TiVo FTP Server
FTP is part of the TiVo binaries available from various sources. It is installed on a hacked TiVo. See Install Mandatory network software: Telnet, FTP for more details.
