  1. Dr. Harold William Parkison Sr.

    Dr. Harold William Parkison Sr., 83, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at Helmwood Healthcare Center.

    Dr. Parkison received B.S. and M.S. degrees from Western Michigan University and Psy.S and Psy.D degrees from Spalding University. He retired from Atlantic Richfield Co. as a chemical engineer. Upon receiving his doctorate, he was employed as a clinical psychologist at Ireland Army Community Hospital at Fort Knox until his retirement in 1996. He was of the Christian faith. His hobbies included golf, chess, cross-country skiing and ballroom dancing. He was an avid reader and lover of nature. He especially enjoyed gardening at his home. The family appreciates the excellent and loving care by Dr. Paul Gerard and the staff of Helmwood Health Care Center.

    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Miser Parkison; his parents, Dewey and Helen Parkison; and a brother, Garnall Parkison.

    Survivors include his wife and best friend, Judith Gardner Parkison; three sons, Harold Parkison Jr. of Nashville, Tenn., Clayton Parkison and his wife, Karen, of Pendleton, Ind., and Jeffrey Parkison of Muskegon, Mich.; two daughters, Diana Wyss of Indianapolis and Janet Sorel of California; two stepsons, Carlton Bale and his wife, Nicole, of Indianapolis and Brandon Bale of Elizabethtown; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

    Cremation was chosen. A private memorial service will be at a later date.

    Visitation is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home.

    Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Memorial Garden at Helmwood Healthcare Center, 106 Diecks Drive, Elizabethtown, or Hospice of Central Kentucky, 105 Diecks Drive, Elizabethtown.
